Were can I get a good copy of this, ie starting where Judas is held in his mouth and also who the devils are and there opposites, I think lucifers is John the Bptist and stuff like that.

Tatty, I am not very good in Art so am curious was that pic by Bosch, looks very much like his style?

Hello, Sia. No, it is by Pieter Bruegel the Elder (1526-1569). Whilst Bruegel had his own original style (which was based on story-telling) he also painted social satires and religious allegories in the marvellous and terrifying style of Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516). Out of interest, here is another Bruegel in the style of Bosch which I like. It is called "Netherlands Proverbs".

Dante's Inferno is part one of the Divine Comedy, Purgatory being part 2 and Paradiso part 3.


Inferno is by far the best of the three. You can get the book in all book shops (or library). Make sure you get it with the poem (in english) then the explanation/notes of the canto(verse) it makes it far more enjoy and easier than having to decipher what is being symbolically portrayed.


This is my favourite all time classic!
