hi ,ive got a n reg mondeo the clutch has gone .pedal goes to the floor got a leak from the gear box.anyone know the cost of a repair or can ido it myself ,limited mech knowledge armed with haynes book .cheers

Hi tamiya garage costs for clutch replacement is about �180 I wouldnt take on this job at home as you have to drop the subframe on the n/s to aid gearbox removal. I have done quiet a few of these being a mechanic and you do need plenty of height on the car, hope this helps

Don't know much about Mondeo but it seems as if your clutch slave cylinder needs renewing as that is probably where the oil is coming from and not the gearbox. Is it brake fluid leaking or gearbox oil?

Have a good look at the Haynes manual, it will explain how to renew it, easyish job and pretty cheap to do.

You will generally be looking at �200-�250 for a good repair at a local independant garage. This will include clutch and slave cylinder / labour and VAT. Not something to do at home unless pretty experienced.
