I'm lucky we're a very close family and even though some of us fall out now and then it soon blows over.On the other hand I know two brothers who not only haven't spoken for about forty years but if they happen to be in the same room they always come to blows,and I mean anything goes fighting fists,bottles,chairs anything that comes to hand.Nobody knows what came between them but it must of been pretty serious

I don't deliberately not speak to anyone, but there are those who I never seem to meet these days. With some, it is unfortunate, but not sufficiently so for me to make a special visit or even call. I'm not so good at making small talk conversation anyway. For others I am less inclined to want to meet due to their past behaviour, but I'm happy to do so were I to 'bump into them'. There's no point in holding grudges; life's too short for that.

Good point OG. However I found I was unable to stay in the same room as someone still at work who had tried to ambush me with a view to firing me just before I retired....

Not really applicable to this thread but our board has suddenly decided to mess about, yet again, with their unvalued employees too. They're closing a one of their sites, but expects staff to work from their own home. (Won;t go into the problems that will cause, here. Suffice to say it's a darned cheek to expect.) Of course there are consultations but clearly they have made the decision. IMO it's probably because they don't wish to pay redundancy or relocation costs; or am I being too cynical ? I suspect not. In any case it has brought the issue of me retiring to mind also. But I can ignore those Mr Charismatic types when they come. They lost my respect ages ago anyway.

Yes mother's brother ( and family).
Because he behaved appallingly after my grandfather died and stole a lot of money from my mother.
We don't attend get togethers where there is any danger they will be.
I wouldn't change it, they showed their true natures now they can live with the consequences.
I would rather it hadn't happened ( we were all very close before that and it hurt my mother deeply) but it's better to know in life which of those close to you are evil duplicitous low lifes then you can eradicate them from any further influence they could have on you, so no not for myself.

How would you change it? I would end sectarianism, that might break some barriers down
WOULD you change it? Of course, wouldn't we all want to see and end to religious sectarianism and bigotry.
