Ideal Standard White Toilet Seat broken hinges/brackets

I really need some help with my toilet seat:( My Ideal Standard White back to the wall toilet circa 2005) has sheared brackets and I need these, I think:http://www.fastpart-spares.co.uk/produc

However these are for toilets 2006-2008 and I really don't like the price, £54 before vat and postage. Does any one have an idea for a cheaper toilet seat that would fit?
At the moment I have the seat secured with plastic tie wraps, but it's hardly satisfactory, and the reason I don't want to pay for new brackets is the likelihood of them failing again.
Many thanks for any suggestions, even humorous ones.

Slackalice, those are the brackets I am reluctant to pay for, over £60 plus vat and postage:)!!
I should add that the seat and lid are still in perfect condition, but I realise that these seats are way to expensive.

I am sorry if I have given the impression that I am a cheapskate, but I am not unhappy to spend quite a bit on a toilet seat, just not happy to spend so much on the brackets, when I think they are not up to the job:) After all the seat cost me over £80 and now would be closer to £100. I think I could get a soft closing one if I could be sure it would fit to the pan, the Ideal Standard brackets certainly don't look standard to me but I am going to try a really cheap one and then get a better one if that fits.
I have just come across your toilet seat dilemma whilst searching on the internet for the exact product (EV23367)
My toilet seat (Ideal Standard White 2005) has done the very same thing.
On my plumbers advice, I ordered another seat from the local builders merchant to discover it was £100.28!
I really didn't feel inclined to spend so much on a toilet seat when the problem was merely the hinges, so on the advise of a very wise man (!!) I looked on-line for alternatives, this is where you (e.crespo) come in...
Did you manage to find an alternative seat or some cheaper hinges? Or are you still managing with tie wraps?!
I look forward to hearing how your toilet tale ended!

I took the sheared off bits to a stainless steel welding place and they welded the arm back for a tenner. Should have had the other one over-welded as well to strengthen it, but didn't think. might have to gouge a bit out of the plastic seat to make room for the raised weld, but it should hold after that. It was poor welding rather than poor design that let those hinges down. Shame.
