Why on Earth would I need to learn those, what possible use could they have?
I did my bit back in the 80's

It was ever thus in HM Forces. My favourite was the WRAC(Women's Royal Army Corps) which was changed to Warm, Round and Cuddly, as well as another which is far too derogatory to print here.

Another was when one of my old units did a tour of the Falkland Islands, when it came to HQ's attention that the locals were being referred to as 'Benny's'(the Crossroads character) so an order was made that the practice was to stop.
They subsequently became known as 'Stills', as in 'Still a Benny'!

Oh, forgot these too:
We used to call our Territorial Army colleagues STABS, which stood for Stupid TA B******s.
They in turn called us ARABS, Arrogant Regular Army B******s!

I worked with someone who served in the Falklands and he also told the Benny tale. He also said that penguins used to watch helicopters fly overhead and fell over backwards ! Not sure about that one, although he said that they were so tame, you could pick one up and put it under your arm.
