I'm trying to unlock a phone given to me by an Australian relative. It was originally supplied by Crazy John which was subsequently taken over by Vodafone.
When I input the IMEI number I get a message telling me it's not recognised. I've checked and double checked the number from the label and *#06# and it's right.
Is there any reason that anyone knows of apart from maybe the wrong service provider being entered that would cause this to happen given that the number is unique and paired to the phone.

I've always got handsets unlocked at a market stall or a shop. If you are doing it yourself I can only advise asking whoever you purchased the unlock ability/number/whatever from. IMEIs split up into blocks of significant meaningful numbers. Maybe a mobile shop could confirm the one the phone is claiming is valid for that manufacturer ?

Morning Old_Geezer. I've been through those very steps with the previous owner and also visited an IMEI checking site. That site confirms the phone as it is.
Further investigation required I think.
Many thanks for taking the time to reply, :-)

I've done what I probably should have done in the first place and got a micro SIM.

The phone's not locked. :-P
