That word just cost Rio Ferdinand a 3 match ban and a £25K fine.

Mixing a footballer and Twitter is a dangerous thing, but the sanction does seem rather excessive for what would appear to be banter.
Do you think the FA have it in for Ferdinand, especially after how leniently they treated the Premier League Chief Executive, Richard Scudamore, for a similar offence?

Again you are reading words I have not used. I am NOT supporting Rio Ferdinand.
I am observing his punishment is much greater than that of Richard Scudamore who committed a similar offence.
I am saying the FA are hypocrits or not consistant. I am not defending Ferdinand's action, just raising an eyebrow at the punishment.

I'd suggest the FA is following the pattern for UK Law - each case is considered separately on its own merits. Rio Ferdinand is well known, a potential role model and therefore needs to set a good example - with that comes a harsher punishment if steps out of line. Not many people care what Richard Scudamore said because they've never heard of him.
