Anyone with any sense avoids paying tax wherever legitimately possible, but coming from a critic of tax avoidance, it’s a bit rich – as was he. All for one and one for …. err ….. one. It’s the socialist way. ;o)
IHT is a voluntary tax - every fule know that

Chubby overfed old-etonian Osborne doesnt need your IHT

make a will and avoid paying it - jsut as Tony ( not my fave politiican ) did
Peter, hate to be pedantic, you arrive on Monday in the UK, leave on Friday, then that is only 3 tax days in the eyes of HMRC. I was a 'grass widower' for two years, living in NL and commuting to the UK, so if you travel on a weekly basis, weekends in home base, you can be domiciled in another country.
.DTC - these are governed by 'fishermen's rules'

I cant believe you paid NO tax on your UK income
and as stated you should have paid NL tax which er is higher ( 60% for high earners ) .
NL and UK have a tax treaty - you had to be domiciled somewhere

as they say in the meedja - I cant comment on individual cases....
// Benn live in the UK and paid tax all his life.

Unlike Lord Ashcroft, the Conservative Deputy Chairman who was domicile to Belize to EVADE paying tax. //

Any mention of the word evasion is irrelevant to the OP. Benn is not being accused of doing anything illegal.
He is being accused of hypocrisy and double standards.

Looks like ludwig is one of the few who gets it...

Benn and all his ilk were and are hypocrites of the worst sort
well I have been researching
and of all the many many things Tony Benn said, ( 2 million words apparently)
he doesnt seem to have said much about tax avoidance
And he paid his fair share into the public coffers throughout his life so that people less fortunate could be helped

and he gave up a lot of his time free to good causes and to help others

and he was a major contributor to selected charities

What's 'un-socialist' about that?
Question Author
"he doesnt seem to have said much about tax avoidance"

he (Benn)obviously knew better to keep his mouth shut.......as he was practising it(avoidance), as we now know.
