We're going on a day trip to see the poppies at the Tower of London next week.

We'll have 3/4 hours there and wonder if anyone has any suggestions for a little soemthing to see or do closeby. We've been to the Tower of London and up TowerBridge and would prefer not to get a tube anywhere.

Is there anything to see at St Katherine's Dock? Or what about the area around City Hall? Anything interesting nearby?

HMS Belfast. The Design Museum?
the hippo is in St K's dock till this weekend but presumably gone by the time you get there.

Walk along the river on the south end of Tower Bridge - right by the river on the west side or along Shad Thames on the east side, old warehouses now pricey flats and restaurants.

Or take a river cruise from Tower pier? I'm not sure if that three-four hours or three-quarters of an hour, if the former you could probably get a Thames Clipper down to Greenwich and back, or somewhere up river and back.

St Paul's or Museum of London....

Is the Queens Jubilee Barge still in St Katherine's Dock?

Sorry not to be clear, we will have 3 to 4 hours including the time spent walking round the tower and some lunch. Thanks for your ideas so far. Keep them coming as we'll be pleased to have some choices depending on the weather and the crowds.
Run up and down the Monument?
Question Author
LOL we'd be happy to be able to run up and down the garden path let alone the Monument! But we could incorporate it in a stroll around the City area.

Have a look at Tower Bridge. Its open to the public these days and is well worth a tour...you can even walk across at height between the two towers.
Also St Katherines Dock is right next door.
Enjoy the poppies. They are a magnificent sight. Don't forget to take hankies with you. It's very emotional. Enjoy your day
