My sister has recently moved away to an Army base with her new husband and I suspect she is finding it tough as she knows no one there and is on the other side of the country. She cannot get a phone signal currently so I cannot call/text her and the internet isn't in for a few more weeks.
She doesn't drive and the base is right in the sticks in terms of public transport etc.... So she is stuck in her new home with no job currently and no way to get out of camp.
Any ideas what I could send her in the post besides a letter to keep her spirits up which isn't too costly and easily postable?
Thanks all

The wives already there are aware of this because they regularly find themselves in that position, so they go out of their way to get newcomers welcomed and familiar with all the local goings-on.
No fixed line ? That IS 'in the sticks'.
It must be a common problem at the base, don't they cater for WAGs (or HABs) with social groups or stuff ? She won't know folk to start with but it is a major incentive to get to do so, get over that initial hurdle. Maybe in your next letter you could stress that ?
