A caution is considered by many policemen to be better than a conviction because the person concerned has to accept, and admit, that they were guilty. A caution can still be recorded in some circumstances.
A police caution is entered onto the Police National Computer (PNC) and every police force in the UK can see it.
It will not be used in court for any other offences commited, but can be used if the same offence is committed again.
The difference is, it does not have to be declared on job applications as a 'conviction' - but for jobs that require Disclosure it will be relevant (teacher, police officer, carer, working with children)
