His teacher can tell the difference between work he's done at home and work he's done at school. The work he does at school is far superior.

It's a good idea in moderation;
If I put cauliflower, sprouts, carrots, peas, potatoes cabbage (get the drift) on a plate for the kids dinner they will just nudge the food round the plate.
It will be overwhelming.
Give them just a couple of veg and they think 'I can manage that'
I think the same about homework, too much and they will think 'I'll do that later' (I remember from my own school days... often 'later' never comes)

They're at school for not much less than a working day. How many people come home from work and want to do more work in the bedroom/living room?
At school they have their learning head on. When they get home...chat to mum/dad....smell of dinner...greeted by their pets...phone calls...facebook...visitors...etc etc...the learning head has gone. And that's why my son does his homework at school.

Ummmm you are lucky you can get your child to school early. My son is picked up by the school bus a 8.15 and has to get the bus back at 3.15. My work is in the opposite direction and I don't usually go in until 10am. Homework should be renamed something else because at Boarding school you still get 'homework' or 'Prep' which is done in the library usually after school. I hate working from home as there are too many distractions so can empathize with any child wanting to do the homework at school.
