Fao Gness/crotcheters

This should be in Home - but Gness could you advise me on a number of a crotchet hook so that I can crotchet up a scarf/snood.

I crotcheted many things years ago and always did without a pattern so just need the number of the hook and thickness of yarn.

I use the same size hooks for crochet as for knitting Con .It depends on the yarn really.
4.5mm for double knit .5.5mm to 6mm for aran ,6.5 mm to 7 mm for chunky. .

thanks for that answer Shaney - will take a note of it. Have loads of scarves but fancy crotcheting one up hopefully with a bit of bling/glitter. The chunky one will do.

Hope it turns out well .I did a knitted one last winter in a lovely sparkly wool .
I'm crocheting hats at the moment for my sister in laws jumble sale at the church.

shaney is it easy enough to get sparkly wool particularly in the chunky - if not I could use double knit.

Hi, JJ....exactly as Shaney says for hook sizes though I often use 3.5-4.00 for double knitting depending on the project.....
I'd do aran or chunky and if you can't get a sparkly wool you can buy very fine glitter wool to combine with the main one...google around for some great patterns.....have fun.....x

My local wool shop has several different brands of DK wool with a shiny strand running through - worth taking a look, conne.

Tilly I think we all talking about crocheting you know as in wool and not in music. Guess that is what I was thinking about when I was doing the piano lessons.

I am unable to knit but did enjoy crochet as a kid.

i can't knit either - anyway it was too slow. Love the way you can elongate one stitch even in crocheting.

Be careful with that glittery wool. Some of it is really harsh on the skin.
