I have a drinking water tank that is getting rusty and needs to be painted inside and need to know of a non toxic quick drying paint I could use, please
Isn't it unusual to have a drinking-water tank...drinking-water should preferably come straight from the mains?
Not only do you have to consider toxicity, but you will have to consider taste and odour...our senses of taste and smell are VERY sensitive. I wouldn't want to drink any water that's been in a painted tank!
snags: I wasn't aware of that...it's still true, of course, drinking-water IS preferable directly from the mains! In this situation, however, I think I would be replacing the tank with one made specifically for drinking-water (potable-water suitable) rather than using any sort of paint.
Water-based paints wouldn't last long under water...and solvent-based could lead to toxicity, taste and odour problems.
Perhaps The Builder may have a more "hands-on" answer?
yes I do live on a boat and the water does of course come from the mains, to start with, the tank is stainless steel and part of the boat,so is there anymore answers please?
