youngmafbog - "We need to get tough on crime, but that will never happen, the liberal briefs will be queueing up to go to the ECHR."
The answer is not to pontificate about being 'tough on the causes of crime' - but to actually do what needs to be done to stop it.
Simply 'getting tough' on criminals does't work, it's a pure horse/ stable interface.
No, the answer is to stop children growing up to be criminals, and you do that be educating them at pre-school age about respect and tolerence, and not being able to have what you want all the time - and there is so little of that level of education because successive governments will not pay to put it in place.
The answer was, is, and always will be about education - not about punishment. By definition, if it's punishment time, the criminal mindset is already bolted in place - we need to stop that mindset from growing in the first place - and that means education.
