Well... medals are awarded on behalf of the Queen and you would be hard pressed to find an adult member of the Royal Family who has not been awarded a medal by their mother/grandmother.
Golden Jubilee Medal 2002 - awarded to members of the Armed Forces and emergency services who have completed 5 years' service on 6 February 2002.
I do not believe that Prince Harry (nor William) would meet the criteria for eligibilty to receive the medal therefore I maintain his award is for nothing other than familial connection.
The honours system in this country is the most laughable thing on earth and anyone who thinks otherwise is probably a daily express or daily mail reader.
I wonder if anyone was brave enough to say something that was said to a recruit standing next to me in the 1960s. The drill sergeant, seconded from the infantry, yelled "It's a good thing you are going to be an officer, because never in this world will you ever make a soldier".
As a young newly promoted Sgt, I was to accompany the RSM on his weekly drill parade, when he saw Pte P****sh, (name deleted by me) he stuck his pace stick in his ribs and said "there is a piece of sh!t on the end of this stick P****sh" the hapless Pte replyed " not on my end Sir"
