I have often heard the term " we are going on a Banyan" relating to a naval soiree in a small boat in leisure time. Any idea of this term for such an event

Thank you Zac. We d ait for 'meat-free days' any excuse for taking out the whisky boat to the nearest bay was a ' banyan' !
