Where can I buy coloured / decorative sand to fill up and empty jar? The sort you see candles in sometimes? I only want it to fill a jar with it, so it doesn't have to be that fancy really, just cheap and cheerful! Any ideas on where to buy it? High street ideally not internet, so I can see the colour beofre I buy!

I can't think of any national chain shops likely to sell coloured sand, so you'll probably have to look under 'Art & Craft Shops' in your local Yellow Pages and phone around.

If you end up needing an online supplier, take a look here:

You might have some luck at some of the bigger aquarium stores who sell novelty sand for fish tanks
if youve got the time salt can be coulored with chalk and it looks the same but is much cheeper, obviously it also depends how much you want, i just filled a small container, it was quite theraputic actually.

I found some cheap sand and some coloured glass at Au Naturel Interiors this morning, but they only had red and silver, so I'll try your suggestions. Just filled a jar, and it looks rather pretty. Thanks!
I've seen coloured sand in our local In-Store (used to be -stretcher) and I'm sure I saw some in Ikea as well. Thing is, they were scented, so if you mix too many colours, the scent may be overpowering!!
