Do you find it nauseous when other people tell you how 'good' they are?
Had to attend a mental health well being group today and were asked to describe ourselves as we see it.
Some of the comments were...

'I havnt got a bad bone in my body'
'Im a nice person'
'Ive got a big heart'

Nothing wrong with a healthy dollop of self esteem...something I sadly lack in...but I find something odd about people who have to tell you what a nice, kind, caring person they are. Surely thats for others to judge for themselves?

I said that Im a melancholy, alcoholic misanthropist who has a deep distrust of people and society in general and have been diagnosed by shrinks in the past as having a borderline personality disorder and if I found 90 quid lying in the street I'd pocket it.... (OK, I didnt really mention the 90 quid)

Just turns me right off a person when they tell you that they are a 'nice' person. I'll be the judge of that thank you!

I would normally try not to big myself up in conversation but the problem with that is that people invariably come to the judgement that I'm a git anyway. May as well get it over with from the start.
ah Jim..s'no true....me and G loves ya ! xx
Of course, it's pretty ironic to say this perhaps given my last post, but I'd have thought that the people who do themselves down in a way that's blatantly just fishing for compliments are surely even more annoying...
I, on the other hand, am very self effacing.
No one is more modest than I am, I am the mostest modestest person in the world.....
Nailit, we are many different things to different people, I distrust those who proclaim they are nice!
Minty, Jim prefers to be called James :-)
Just don't call him early, Minty.....☺

Nailit, dongle malfunction?
As far as shortcomings go there are plenty of others to see them. It's no bad thing to look at your good points and remember them when you're in a depressed state when the negative view you hold of yourself might be taking over.
Goodnight, talk tomorrow, awful day x
I can sympathise with nailit. Over 20 years ago I was convicted of drink driving and put on probation to 'address' my alcohol issues. To my utter shame and humiliation, the probation officer turned out to be a former pupil of mine. Now that's degradation.
