Just in from work so adding my congratulations a little late to the new F1 World Champion and deservedly so, would have been a travesty for anyone to nick it with the ridiculous double-pointer.

That must have hurt, BRIGHT SPARK, LOL.

Not clear on double pointer. Was it decided before the series of races began? If not was it legal?

It was a daft idea by Bernie "not a crook" Ecclestone - aimed at making sure that the last race was still able to affect the result of the championship.

It was announced before the season started and everyone hated it - but it was a done deal for this year. Scrapped for 2015 I think/hope.
