Is there an Android app which allows 2 people to access the same calendar and receive prompts/updates on events? Thinking out loud that all our planning is done on my calendar on phone which other half cannot see when out and about ............... does such a thing exist?

You could use the calendar on gmail. You would both need to sign up for an account.

if you put shared calendar in to play store it gives you a couple of options

Iphone with shared itune account will do it. Maybe same for android.
