im going to look at a flat on tuesday any tips on things too look for /ask? eg how to check for damp?? that kinda thing.

• If there's any peeling wallpaper, peer underneath to see if there's any green or black mould on the wall.


• Are you allowed to have pets?


• Are you allowed to sub-let (or have a friend share with you?)


• If monthly rent is quoted, is it payable every calendar month or every four weeks?


• How much notice is required if you want to leave? (If you're renting)


• What deposit is required?


• Are you renting from an individual landlord or through an agency. What is the history of quick repairs if things go wrong.


• Are you allowed to decorate internally or must you live with the landlord's colour scheme?


• Any restrictions on noise, i.e. no parties or loud radio or TV after 11 p.m. etc.


• If it's furnished, ensure a full inventory is provided and that you sign up & agree to it. Also that any damage to furniture or carpets is noted before you move in.
