Dead battery

I have an old phone thats not been used in a couple of years, and now the battery wont accept a charge. Any ideas on how I might revive the battery?

My grannie always used to pour a drop of brandy into the bowl, and that seemed to do the trick.

That was a goldfish that needed reviving though, not a phone battery, so it's perhaps not that relevant.

Try Wrapping it in a plastic bag and putting it in the freezer overnight. It worked on a laptop battery of mine.

Very often the charge in the battery dissipates and as there will be a minimum level of power required to start the mobile, you may find that an unused battery may need to be left on charge overnight to get back to a useable level. if not, 50p at a bootsale is the next option!

A lot of manufacturers recomend you to run rechargable batterys down completly once in a while.Bosch.Makita,Skill,Black& Decker etc. Some batterys though require a small amont of power to except a charge and function.Some chargers don't charge if they can't pick up any amps from the battery. Try a hair dryer on the battery for 5 minutes and then charge it whilst warm.If that fails boot sale as Bobajob advised. jason1980 Its Uri thats bent!!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I'll be tring them all. The phone is a is a 1998 model . chunky with big buttons. Ideal for my old gran who has moved into a nursing home and has no phone in her room. If I can just get the battery started then it can remain on a constant charge thereafter.
