There's just been a slightly comical piece on tonight's Countryfile featuring 2 bards - 1 from Yorkshire and 1 from Lancashire. When reciting their poems there were subtitles underneath. I'm from 'down south' and understood perfectly what they were saying! A bit OTT methinks. Anyone else see it?

lol aye, I did. As I'm from Lancashire anyway, I also understood both poems.

Yes, and yes you are correct. Neither was using dialect (which can be incomprehensible, like all local dialects), just different accents. We are all proud of our roots, but this was silly and divisive.

It may have been offensive to natives of Lancashire or Yorkshire. My parents were from Yorkshire and even I was offended on their behalf!
