It's an old wives tale that almonds help 'sharpen' the mind. My mum tells me to nibble on them during exams.

An aunt also used to make 'brain tonic' a strange concoction of almonds, cashews, semolina and brown sugar all ground to a powder - you would have a couple of spoonfulls in milk or on its own.

according to the shreddies ad it does!
if your blood sugar is low, your concentration will wander....is that what you mean?
hmmm but don't you get dead sleepy after eating?
i believe it would have a difference on the amout of food you had to eat... think xmas dinner everyones asleep after that. But i'm with beenee's aunt on the almonds thing, well not almonds exactly, but chewing something (could be polos) when your revising and doing exams is meant to improve your ability to learn and your recall
