Help With Connecting Vcr To Sony Bravia Flatscreen Tv
37 Answers
Damsel in distress here, so hope someone can assist.
I already have a DVD/Freeview box connected to the TV which works fine.
I have a VCR which I am also trying to connect . The only sockets on the back of the VCR are red/white, and a 21-pin scart socket . I have tried connecting VCR to the DVD box via scart with no success. Then tried connecting VCR direct to TV . No joy there. I've watched so many "how to" videos, mostly American, and one guy even said I had to get on the roof. I don't have cable TV.
Can anyone give "easy to follow" instructions as this is driving me nuts. Thanks

I think we've proved that the SCART lead isn't at fault with all the suggestions we've had you try. If this last option doesn't work it looks like a problem with your VCR. If that's the case and you have some old tapes you want to play back then I suggest you go to a charity shop - we have a big BHF shop in Reading, as do many large towns, which sells furniture etc and has lots of VCRs.

hi bhg481
I have now tried all combinations with the good scart lead.
i.e. When I connect TV AV1 or AV2 to Freeview box both work fine. But when I use the same lead to connect TV AV1 or AV2 to VCR, neither work (sound but no picture) Thanks for the tip on charity shops. I am now looking into trying to connect the VCR to my laptop, as a last resort

Success at last! The problem was with the instructions shown in the VCR manual. The VCR was bought in 1995 way before our digital TV and so the instruction for the scart connection into VCR socket "A" was for analog . As we are now digital, the correct connection is in now in socket "B". Thanks again for all help received
