If you've got friends who's opinions or beliefs differ from your own, would you get into a debate with them or just enjoy your friendship without letting your differences get in the way?
Ive got a friend who is a retired pastor. Weve been friends for 12 years and he's never once preached to (or at) me. We are both aware of each others views, he's obviously a bible believer and I most definetely am not but our differences have never been a problem, probably because we dont get into discussions about it. (except maybe in passing)
Another friend of mine has strong political views that I dont hold with but his friendship means more to me than differing on political views.
Just wondering how others on here deal with friends who have different viewpoints, thanks
ooops, pressed submit by accident...
My 'politically' minded friend has views which I dont agree with, but again I dont find offensive. So really nothing to get uptight about.
Mikey, many years ago I used to go drinking with someone who eventually became a very prominent member of the local BNP party. At the time he thought nothing of popping into the local kebab shop on the way home from the pub with me for his supper.
I don't really have any prejudies and I've always gone on the basis that people are people, just don't bring me bad people....I'm a pretty good judge of folk
On the flip side of course I have a number of family members who don't speak to me because I refused to join the orange lodge and the Masonic lodge when I turned 18, I'm not into sectarian/religious nonsense, if they have sucjh a bigotted outlook on life thats their problem
nailit (18:46)....so many of our worst racists and bigots are also hypocrites, and the one who was offensive in the restaurant was about as hypocritical as it was possible to be !
