Is Chateauneuf-du-Pape worth the extra ££££ we have family on Christmas day who drink and appreciate Red wine (we don't).

Thanks.

You sure Sqad? ;-)))
LOL.....wellllll!
I`m not a fan of French wine - I think it`s a bit pretentious and you pay more just because it`s French. How about a selection of three? Maybe a nice Chilean Carmenere, Argentinian Malbec and something from S Africa? South African wines are fab but they keep the best for themselves. It`s a bit more expensive and you won`t find it in the supermarket but Meerlust Rubicon is pretty fab.

We have this shop local to us.
Only snag is it is a wholesale place (min 6 bottle purchase) any on this list you would recommend??
It`s only a cheapo wine but Yellow Tail Shiraz is very nice and easily available in the supermarkets.
jd........sorry, I only have experience of the Riscal.......not bad.

I have no experience of the others.
'Sixty Niner' for the Pope! whatever next Squad.
a bit naughty ,Sqad
You could do a lot worse than simply check the Sunday papers/magazines for recommendations from those who know enough to get given a wine column to write. Has worked for me in the past.
