desktop backgrounds

ive lost my desktop background, and cant get it back, ive tried left click, properties but thbats not helping, any ideas? thanks in advance

When you say left clicking on properties is not helping, can you give us some more information on what does happen?

er.... it might be obvious or just a typo, but have you tried right click/properties? Apologies if it's a typo

Assuming you're running Windows XP/98.

Right click on the desktop, click "Properties"

Select the "Desktop" tab

Click on "Browse" and choose the picture you want

From the drop-down menu choose "Stretch"

Where in these steps are you having the problem?
