I have a digi tv with a splitter to the bedroom tv. Every now and again , quite often really, I get bad reception only on some channels, ITV and BBC 1 although ITV + 1 is always OK. I took the splitter out and thought it was maybe that ( breaking it in the process). I have put the Ariel straight into the socket without the splitter in the lounge and some programmed have been without signal for 24 hours. Any ideas ? I want to buy another splitter but not sure which one to buy.
You need an aerial amplifier, not a splitter. Splitters divide the available signal and, unless it is strong, results in no TV getting enough of an input signal to allow each TV to operate. Aerial amplifiers can be mounted in the loft space or elsewhere on the downfeed cable, but do require a mains power socket for their power supply. Maplin, B&Q, those sort of...

Ideally one should divide the signal as near to the source (aerial) as possible since with an amplifier it is going to amplify and noise it picks up in the downlead as well as the wanted signal. But unless you find you are getting issues then just put the amplifier/splitter where your unamplified splitter was previously. It'll probably be ok.
You may find it looks similar but with a power lead.
