Just been going through the Christmas TV guide to decide what to record.

There are one or two programmes that come into my category of 'watch if I can', but only 1 programme that I really don't want to miss, that being Downton Abbey.

Does anybody else think the Festive offerings are pretty bland?

Not much I want to see, except Miranda and Call the Midwife. I haven't looked at what films are on.

The films that take my fancy are - Goodbye Mr Chips and Whisky Galore.

Showing my age !
Dr Who on Christmas Day- that's it for me.
For those of a nervous disposition be carfeful

Alan 'Oh Dear' Carr has his Chatty Something on Christmas night - then it's repeated on Boxing Night.

Is that really necessary.

sp...Alan Carr has never been necessary!
Well said Bright Spark - complete waste of good TV time IMO.
Who likes Alan Carr, apart from AC himself? I've never come across anyone who finds him funny.
There doesn't seem to be anything so far that I feel I really HAVE to see. Quite disappointing really. Plenty films on but nothing special. I suppose after a ton of food and several gallons of liquid refreshment, I'll just slob out on the sofa and watch any old tripe. Ho ho ho everyone.xx
i'll be taping downton , miranda and call the midwife as the grandchildren have us playing charades and trivial pursuit etc for hours lol
Don't think TV will be on at son's house, too busy playing games. I might escape back to my own home in time for Call the Midwife though!
are we related maggiebee? lol
Mally and Maggie, I think you were twins separated at birth. xx
lol janbee x
Paul O'Grady's Christmas at Battersea is a must to record for me.
Had The Great Escape yesterday so that just leaves The Sound of Music, I assume that it is on this year.
It is, I don't know when though, maybe someone else does ?
I don't know what the offerings are at the moment as I haven't got my tv guide yet. I normally record Jimmy Carrs Big Fat Quiz of the Year.

Me, I find him funny :-)
a filmed stage version of The Sound Of Music is on CH5 at 12:35pm on the 25th
There's a programme about Tim Rice on at the same time as Downton, that's about all I could find. But then I never have been a fan of Christmas TV and won't have the TV on if I can help it.
