I am due for an eye test soon and already know that i will need some new specs. I am considering those lenses that darken in daylight but I was wondering if anyone knew how bright the daylight has to be before they darken........e.g. on a winter's day will they darken or is it just in bright sunlight?

ta muchly in advance for any help.......XXX

They will darken when the sun is shining no matter how cold it is or not. But Im not sure how bright the sun has to be.
Depending how bright it is it will go dark the brighter the darker. it doesn't matter if it's winter or summer they will go the same level of darkness. If it's very bright they will go very dark
I got a pair last summer when i renewed my prescription along with my normal specs, they are good but mine will also darken when there is cloud cover(even when spitting of rain sometimes) I think it's the u.v rays that activate them so you can end up looking like bono walking around with sun glasses on all the time.also they do NOT change when i'm driving ,again i think its the u.v's not being able to penitrait the car windows(i think)but all in all iglad i got them..good luck.
