Costa Dorada

Hi,I've booked a hoiday to Costa Dorada in Salou in June.Does anyone know how hot it will be? And any tips re. the water and theme parks? I can't wait but don't want to be ripped off. Thanks everyone. ps staying at Cap Salou hotel - has anyone heard of it?

Temperatures should be in the 70s. Book your theme park trips etc through local agents, avoid the reps. Roadtrain picks up all over town and will drop you off at the parks. Don't forget a day out in Barcelona, you can go by train, takes about one and a half hours. Once there, take an open top tour bus, hop on and off at the sights all over the city. Have a nice time.

I went there last year, and have booked up again this year. Both times we stayed in one of the Port Aventura hotels that are linked with the theme park and water park.

The theme park and water park are both excellent. They are both on the edge of the town of Salou alongside the three Port Aventura hotels.

I have been to Florida and the theme park at Port Aventura is as good as any of them. It does get crowded during the day, so be prepared to queue.

You could easily spend 2 days in the theme park.

When I was there in July the theme park stayed open till midnight, and it was a lot quieter in the evening. I am not sure it stays open that late in June.

The water park also gets crowded, but there are loads of wave machines, slides, fumes, lazy river etc. Plenty to do to spend a day there.

When I was there in July the temperature was in the low 30s most days (30, 31, 32) which was very hot and made walking anywhere very hard and sweaty work.

My guess it will be in the high 20s in June (27, 28)

Couple of things on Salou.

There is a huge beach, but the town is a bit so-so. Lots of tacky touristy shops and bars.

There is a set of small "blue" trains that run round the town. They are trains, but run on wheels on the roads.

They cost about 2.50 Euros, but you can stay on as long as you like. They are great when you first arrive, just get on one and let it take you round the town.

I think there are 3 different trains that take 3 different routes, but this is not always obvious.

They are "open" carriages so they keep you cool as you are going round.

Looks like they are doing an offer for tickets to the theme park, 14 days (or 7 days) for the price of 3.
