Fao Sqad - Ear Still Not Right

Sorry to bother you again. I can clear my ears now when I blow my nose but that left ear still feels the same. It`s been 9 days now and it`s still hissing, muffled and I can feel a feeling of pressure in the neck. Are you sure there is not some way it could be damaged?

Continue with the steroid spray...........be patient.

Thanks. It`s just that tomorrow is day 7 of self-certifiable sickness at work so after that I need a doctor`s note. Luckily, I`m off from day 8 to NYs day so I`m having to gamble on phoning in fit and hoping it doesn`t develop into otitis media before 1st Jan.

If you were on the Continent or I was within 30 miles of you, that left ear would have been drained and a Gromit tube inserted, but in the UK, all that takes so long...............

I see no reason that it should develop into otitis media.

I had grommets years ago and in those days, my doctor was ex RAF so he was really good with ears and flying. The trouble is, it impacts on work and as you say, it would take ages to get anything done if it does need draining. I`d go private to hurry it up if I had to. I wouldn`t involve the medical services at work because they might use it as an excuse to pension me off! I don`t trust them.

If I may, Sierra Juliette... I mentioned it before, but give the "hold your nose shut and swallow" repeatedly. Works for me since that's the direction the congestion is supposed to drain, rather than up...

Thanks Clanad. I can get the eustachion tube open but it doesn`t make my ear drum feel any different. That`s the problem. Merry Christmas to you BTW
