No, only taxi's. One mate has had bad luck with that though - Once he left his phone in the cab so the driver phone his house and found him and another he'd already told the driver his adress before doing a runner about 100yds away!! eejit!!
No, wouldn't dream of it. But if the food was really bad I would either send it back uneaten or complain at the time and ask for the bill to be adjusted accordingly. People who run restaurants have to make a living too, often with very narrow margins, and "doing a runner" is just another form of theft.
Only once and by mistake many years ago. It was a pub/hotel where you paid at the desk on the way out. I held the baby whilst my wife went to the loo and then she did the same for me. A few miles up the road I said to my wife "How much was the bill?'
Her reply was "Oh, I thought you paid it." We didn't turn back but I do feel guily about it whenever I pass the place, about once a year.
I filled up at a garage once and was so busy nattering to my son that I got back in and drove off without paying. Ten miles further on I suddenly realised, phoned my wife who found the garage number to tell I'd be back later to pay, which I did with profuse apologises.
