This clock that I "rescued" is now ready to strike in 2015. I completely disassembled the movement; cleaned it; reassembled it; made some adjustments; oiled it; and did some cosmetic work on the case. It's around 90 years old (which is not really that old for a clock), and I bet it hasn't struck a new year in for many a year. http://i57.tinypic.com/1huivp.jpg

Eddie I don't think I can post a link to my shop as it will be classed as advertising but you could search Ebay for retrohomestore (you will have to search the 'shops')
Not all the stock is on line as some is not appropriate for selling on Ebay or moreover mailing so if there's anything you are particularly looking for let me know you can message through Ebay.
stuey...very impressive. my mate who is a retired ENT surgeon in the UK also "tinkers" with clocks as a hobby.

Bit too complicated for sqad.

^^^^ pants -that should have been a link to a photo not my page -have asked it to be removed.
Thanks retro, my particular interest is vintage photographic items (no digital stuff) I buy them, do repairs and sell on ebay. My ebay id is 123-monkeyking 100% +ve feedback.
Well done Stuey. It's a very handsome old beast. A job well done. xx

Retrochic, surely you should be allowed to post a picture or two of you store as long as you don't discuss it's location and prices of items etc. We'd all like to see some.
Sorry to not reply sooner stuey - you can find my ebay shop by searching for retrohomestore on Ebay in the 'find shops' section. There are over 100 items on there at the moment.
Eddie -have messaged you through Ebay.

I found your site. Some nice looking 'stuff" you have. I think that the Greyshott clock is an electro-mechanical clock and not quartz. Is it powered by an AA battery? If so, it's not quartz.
Question Author
German manufacturers make very durable electro-mechanical movements. I would say if your clock contains one of these it should increase its value somewhat.
stuey -thankyou for that -can you tell me the difference as I just got the description from google and it said 'quartz movement'. I like to get my descriptions right -my ignorance extends to wind up clocky things and 'you put a battery in them lol!
Just checked the clock stuey -its got 'Quartz' written on the dial

OK, Retro, I guess I was wrong in that case. I'd hate to have Mrs stuey get loose in your "shop":)
Got your ebay message Retro & replied
stuey if you ever come over to the uk come to my retail shop -lots more things in there but thankfully for you far too large to ship back to Ontario.
