I Have Bought 2 Pepper Sprays

as a protection against any would be muggers etc.
In my small Country Town in Suffolk, there has been a rise in assaults in the past 6 months.
One I keep in my car, and the other in my pocket and when at home kept handy.
I am fully aware that they could be illegal, but I wold rather be prosecuted in Court, than have to spend time in hospital with injuries, that could be serious.
Does anybody else have them?

My friends never seem to have corkscrews, and I'm always popping in for a glass of wine.
Helpfully, I have a corkscrew with me, for such eventualities.

I don't think I would ever be attacked in Brighton. But, if I was, my assailant could ask a helpful passer-by to unscrew the corkscrew from his face while I continued on my way.
Obviously it was an accident. Bit of a struggle. He went for my bag. Corkscrew. Slip of the hand. Not sure how it happened, really.
Oh, glass of wine anyone, if I could have my corkscrew back, please?

I didn't make the law.I am merely stating the penalty for breaking the law which is in the statute books. I am not getting carried away.
You have forgotten,then, the recluse in Norfolk some years ago who shot at two burglars in the darkness of his remote farmhouse with an unlicensed shotgun.Well he did jail time. Also remember that on few occasions prisoners have died by the police use of Pepper spray and Tasers so I am not getting carried away again.I am pointing out some advice to those who want to chance their luck by contravening the Firearms act.

If someone broke into your house to beat you up and rob you it has been stated that you could batter the burglar with a cricket bat,baseball bat or a chair leg.The burglar may even die in the process but you would be exonerated if you were in genuine fear of you or your family's life. It is not illegal to possess those items.It is illegal to possess a pepper spray even within your house.

He made the mistake of shooting the burglar who was fleeing in the bottom and so made a defence of self-defence ..... difficult
[ Just in passing, in 1944 a German guard bayonetted a Tommy POW in the buttocks and then insisted the Tommy be court-martialled under Kings Regs for attacking the guard. My late father as officer-defender said in perfect German - oh come on, no one attacks buttocks-first .... ]
