That might be very bad news for anyone with a holiday home in Cyprus, especially if they use it during the winter. Flights to Cyprus from the UK are extremely limited during the winter months already, with many people who've accepted time-share arrangements on the island finding that, to get to and from their holiday accommodation, they've got to arrange hotel accommodation (either side of their intended stay) because there are no flights on the days when they want to travel.

I was there in September and last I heard, Ryanair wanted to buy them. I was stuck there when I was trying to get on a stand by flight and there were quite a few options. Monarch were one of them and Easyjet I think. They might be seasonal though. Other scheduled airlines will probably "clean up" by increasing capacity on larger aircraft. From what I saw, Cyprus is becoming less of a British tourist spot and is being taken over by the Russians.
too true, I had a beach break there about 12 years ago and it was the first time I'd seen Russian holidaymakers en masse. Not just Russians, when I looked at the departure board in the airport it was places like Minsk and Kiev as well. I think it's nearer for them than for us. I think the British military is still the third biggest landowner there though.
