Third Party motor insurance is a statutory requirement, and therefore it is right and proper that this information is publicly available.
Household insurance is not a statutory requirement. Public Liability (with the exception of riding schools and nuclear establishments) is not a statutory requirement. Therefore it is nobody's business other than the property owner, or any other person or body who has a financial interest in the property (such as a mortgage company) whether the property is insured, and mortgage companies will generally ensure they are named either as a joint-insured or a co-insured.
As such, and rightly, this information will never be made publicly available.

calm down folks .
The reason for my question is that a family member is very ill and therefore unable to look after their affairs .
We are trying to keep things in order as much as we can .
We can't locate any documentation in order to see if there is a current insurance policy covering the property

I don't think we need to be told to calm down ( as per D Cameron )
If you had asked the question properly, then you may have got some possible assistance.
My thoughts are :
a ) Check to see if there is,or has been,a mortgage over the property. If yes then contact the building society/bank, who will have details of the Insurer.
b ) Check bank statements to try to locate relative payments and to which company.
