At least five people have been taken hostage at a kosher supermarket in Paris after a shootout, the gunman suspected of being the same man who killed a policewoman in Montrouge, southern Paris, on Thursday, and a member of the same jihadist group as brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi.

No you do not descend to their level with Madam Guillotine. With Madam Guillotine you have a choice. Do not murder innocent people in the cause of your perverted religion and you won't meet me. The victims were gunned down mercilessly and the hostages have no choice either.
// And descent to their level? //

In order to descend to their level you'd have to go round deliberately killing people without trial that you knew hadn't broken any laws and weren't a danger to anyone else.
OK. Point taken, but it would still be reverting to a brutal method of execution not a million miles from their methods.

I would take our lack of barbarism as our strength. Behave as inhumanely as the terrorists, and you are no better than them.

Gromit, they have a totally inhumane mindset to us, and laugh at our "so called strength" while murdering peoples and taking countries as they desire, while we smack their wrists.
