Struggling not so much with the clues and misprints but actually identifying the thematic word for which the first and last letters are given. Time now to find the corkscrew though.

I have a fully populated grid, have identified the song title, the line from the song, and therefore the repetitive action of the song line! As yet have only the last letter of the pair of letters so have not deduced the thematic word. On that basis I am unable to remove from the grid the letters that appear in that word. As for drawing 4 lines, who knows! Time for another glass of inspiration!

New Year.........hurumph I say! Just hate the dark dismal days of winter I'm afraid, especially as it's drizzling here, wet jackets, wet sheep, wet tractors, empty fields, full sheds............roll on summer and empty sheds, full fields and the (hopefully) shedding of layers of clothes. Apart from all that grumbling, fine thanks Jim.

I've had a disaster. Took son down to start his year at Sandhurst this weekend and left my newsprint copy of EV 1156 in the hotel room. Can any body supply me with a blank grid & clues? I've had completed entries going back to the 800s. Please help [email protected]

29d I have - r o - e - Could it be eroded or broken for worn ? But why ?
43ac I have r - e d - r e - Is it reedwren but why again ?

No idea about 43 ac. Tester and young hoofed animals crossing river, heading west. T or bpth T's in tester could be misprints.

29d is BROKEN anagram of 'on kerb'...misprint is 'Worn Out'
43a is REED-WREN which is 'new deer' reversed around 'r'...misprint is 'Nester'
