Mikey, the title of your thread reminds me of "A Child's Christmas in Wales". When Dylan Thomas narrates it, you're right there: you can feel the cold; you can see the snow and the cats; you can see and hear the maiden aunts tottering on their chairs; and see the firemen putting out the "inferno"...Excellent.
