Part of a notice to shop assistants in a certain store in 1884 'Any employee who is in the habit of smoking Spanish cigars, getting shaved at a barber's shop, going to dances and other such places of amusement, will surely give his employer reason to be suspicious of his integrity and alround honesty' This successfull chain of high street stores was started up in the early 19th century by messrs Franks, Flint, Clark and - William, whose surname is now used by all the stores. What is the name of this chain of stores that was a part of the Burton Group' This question is driving me nuts! Can any one give me a hint as to where to look for the answer, I keep drawing blanks however hard I try. Many thanks

and a link will take you to a website about the stores' founders. Certainly, the names Clark and Frank appear on that web-page and the stores were - maybe still are - part of the Burton Group.
