I think it is safe to say that the people behind the terrorist attack in France last week may have had a slight backfire to their plans. 5,000,000 copies printed this week and likely to sell out, as opposed to a usual print of 60,000 with 30,000 selling. Whoops.

They've murdered the infidels (and a few more besides), they've had their moment of glory and they're now reaping the rewards of their martydom by ravishing their 72 virgins (or whatever it is they believe they will be granted). I just hope each of their virgins is wearing a burkha.
Here is a different story of freedom of speech from Charlie Hebdo. Obvoiusly their freedom of speech has limits and pick and choose.

flobadob I heard an Islamic scholar on R4 explaining that there did not used to be this rule about not depicting the prophet, humans or animals. It came about because of the desire to avoid worshipping 'graven images', or that was what I gathered (I was in a rush to get out to an appointment at the time) and isn't an essential part of Islam.
