We went in the last week in September/first week in October and the weather was mixed. July should be plenty hot enough. Ixia as a resort is really nothing to speak of. It is just a prom with a number of hotels and a very busy road. Not too far from the airport, which is an advantage and you can get a bus or taxi into Rhodes Town. There was also a lot of taxi sharing which saved money. There were two earth tremours where we actually had things fall off the shelves in the hotel bathroom and the beach umbrellas went from side to side! We found the restaurants in Rhodes Town fairly poor, although the history was interesting and harbour pleasant. They all had horrid photos of the dishes outside which was off putting. In the end we asked the holiday rep for her recommendation and she could only recommend three. One was an italian which was nice but pricy, one had shut for the winter and the other was an outdoor cafe type with birds in cages which was OK. People were fine. Travelled by bus down to Lindos which had a nice beach but had to watch the poor donkeys carrying over weight tourists around the town! Problem with cats. They are everywhere and think nothing of coming into restaurants and begging. Whilst there, we took a boat trip to Symi, a nearby island which has turkish influence. I would recommend that.
