When I try to put a shortcut on my desktop (Last 3 weeks) it appears there but when I click on it I get the messaage "Unable to open this Internet Shortcut. The protocol "https" doesn't have a registered program.
I assume that you're using Internet Explorer. If so, open it and click on the Tools button (in the top right hand corner), then select Internet Options. Select the Programs tab. Put a tick next to Make Internet Explorer the Default Browser. Click OK. Better still, install Firefox (which is vastly superior to Internet Explorer):...
Your computer doesn't know which web browser to use by default. Which browser do you want the link to open in? (Internet Explorer? Firefox? Chrome? Safari? Something else?).
Google is a company. Chrome is their browser. If you have it installed you can use it. It was probably the uninstall that caused the issue. Your PC doesn't know what you want to use in its place.
