Why aren't Hallucinogenic/psychedellic drugs addictive?

It is my understanding that most of these drugs including LSD, mescaline, MDMA and Psilocybin are not addictive yet like many addictive drugs they cause increased levels of serotonin and even dopamine (correct me if I'm wrong in this). Is there something in these drugs that counteracts any addictive effects? Or do they simply not work on the same neurotransmitters and brain systems as addictive drugs like cocaine, heroin or cafeine?
Help would be greatly appreiciated as it's part of an important assignment.

A drug like (say) amphetamine encourages addiction in two ways: The first is that users take it repeatedly to prevent the effects wearing off, and the second is that as the body/brain becomes accustomed to it, it takes larger and larger doses to achieve a high.

LSD works by clicking a sort of "trigger" in the brain, which takes some time to reset, so taking a second dose (a) doesn't prevent you from "coming down", and (b) above a certain level, larger or more frequent doses have no effect, in that the "high" is not increased, and the "come-down" is not postponed or prevented.

I think you can be of an addictive personality and alot of it is all in the mind. I speak from experience. I am not proud to say it but have tried many types of drug some were said to be highly addictive and some not. i'm not addicted to any of them now and never have been. (I dont do drugs now) the only one I have trouble with is the dreaded cigarette and i have proved to my self that addiction (me personally )is all in the mind.
I went from 50 aday to mainly smoking at the weekend.
When i'm at home and i know i can't smoke i dont even get the cravings.

Dont know if my limited knowledge is correct but i worked in drug rehab providing social care.

As i understand it an ADDICTION is when
~ withdrawls can be clinically moitored eg bloodpressure, etc,

~ to gain the same "high" (which can be measured in clinical terms, not just the users perseption!) the amount used needs to be increased ie developing a tolarance,

Dependancy is not clinically mesurable.
