You're right Sqad, that's a Hero, no doubt about it!
Very brave man - we should feel humbled. Thanks Sqad.

With out a doubt Sqad.x
He's gotta be strong. And he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight.

No we are not all heroes.
Yes, he was a real hero sqad.
A large sandwich, usually consisting of a small loaf of bread or long roll cut in half lengthwise, and containing a variety of ingredients, as meat, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes.
A hero is a person who puts him/herself in danger, but still does the deed, despite knowing the risks.
Hi TWR, was there a reason why you asked? I'd say the definition of 'hero' means something different to each of us. It could be sqads definition, it could be the many carers dotted about going above & beyond out of love. It could be someone's achievement through adversity.
Interesting question!
My father fought in ww11. In the line of duty he lost his leg. He never considered himself a hero, he would say "I was just doing my job".
Funny thing is I sort of know that my father killed people. He would never waste a bullet by shooting above people's heads. He would kill as that was what he was there for. But he found talking to me and my brothers very difficult and was always distant.
I heard a story on radio 2 about a man that was abused as a child. He became a drug addict (or scum as some people like to describe them) a male prostitute, homeless etc. He was now beginning to put his life together. I am cynical and it takes a lot to make me cry but I did when I heard his story. I would call him a hero!
I think heros' are around us they just don't look like how we would expect them to look!
I agree sqad's hero seems like a hero

Ingrid Loyau Kennett - lee rigbys comforter
more so as the local yokels seem to have been joshing her
Looks as though Major Eric "birdie" Smith was no slouch either, thanks Sqad
On a personal level, my hero is my brother, for coming to terms with an illness & eventually accepting his limitations & all he's had to forfeit as a result in good grace.
My granddad Reg was a runner in the trenches at Ypres in WW1. He received a Commanding Officer's commendation which says "he acted with no thought to his own safety and got his messages through every time". He survived but was gassed and lost half his foot. He's a hero to me.
