Kitchen Sink - Another Question
10 Answers
I went to the only shop in my area that sells kitchen sinks, but they didn't have any ceramic ones. I took the details to the shop with me about the sink and taps I saw online (Amazon.com) and he said it looked like really good value and to go for it. It arrived at my house in perfect condition and looked exactly what I wanted, but when I measured it later, it is 1000 x 500mm, not 1010 x 510mm as advertised on Amazon. My rusty steel sink is 980 x 510, so the new ceramic sink is 10mm too narrow. I rang the seller and he said that because they are hand made there is a 1% possible error in the sizes in production. What are my options, please?

What you need to know is the dimensions of the hole it sits in. If less than that you are OK. If not, there will be a gap. It may be bodged by filling a batten or somesuch. Otherwise you will have to fit a new worksurface to fit the new sink.
There was no mention of the possibility of it being another size, or of it being handmade on Amazon. The work surface I have now is a good one, apart from a small area where damp has got into a corner, next to the wall above the sink. I had it fitted by English Kitchen Co just over 20 years ago. What if I decide to send the new sink back instead of having a new work surface. What are my rights? The man who owns the local kitchen shop never returned any of my calls either.
Just looked at B&Q and the first one i looked at was 1000x510 which would fit your requirements. Technically you are only entitled to a refund if it was damaged or not as ordered. Can you prove it? look at the paperwork. although most internet shops will accept returns regardless. You may have to pay the cost. B&Q have a 90day no quibble refund policy. A new worktop would be relatively cheap and may be the way to go if you can match the rest of the kitchen. Ive seen new mixer taps for around £20 as well if you look around.
