Did anyone watch the programme about Tesco last night? If so, what did you think of it?I was really quite shocked to hear what they charge their suppliers.

Is it any different to Tesco negotiating a big discount? (I'd feel happier with the discount approach rather than fees, but I'm not sure I can justify the preference- maybe it just seems like 'protection money')
It's the way markets work isn't it? The supermarkets want the best deal they can so they can get the best deal for their customers. If suppliers can't supply profitably they will eventually seek new buyers or change their business

You're right FF, its a tough and competitive environment. Its just that Tesco agree to take a whole crop, for example, change a farmers entire strategy and then cut them to the bone once its grown. Even drop them when they have no-one else to sell to and leave them to reseed land that is not suitable now for teh crops they used to grow.
